WHAT IS A HOUSE
CONCERT?
Just what it sounds
like...it's a concert in someone's home. The house concert host makes
arrangements with a musician to come to their home to play for an audience.
It’s a great way to see a terrific performer in a very informal setting
(i.e. our living room).
As the hosts, we don't make
any money from the concert. All we ask is for a “donation”
for the performer
(donation amounts are listed under event calendar below).
We will provide soda, coffee,
tea, and dessert. You may bring your own favorite beverage
if you wish.
Also, many people also bring a dessert or potluck to make a day of it.

JIM
PHOTOGLO
and
friends
Doors Open & Potluck
Begins at 1:30pm
Show at 3:00 p.m.
Suggested Minimum: $20 per person
Jim Photoglo's career is as varied
as it has been successful, but his love of songwriting and performing
acoustically has remained closest to his heart. Jim's musical history is
impressive--in the early '80s, he recorded three albums for a major label, which
yielded two Top 30 hits, opened for The Beach Boys, then later toured as a
singer/musician with such musical greats as Dan Fogelberg, Vince Gill, Nicolette
Larson, Kathy Mattea and Wendy Waldman. It was while on tour with Wendy that she
and Jim began writing together. Impressed with Jim's talent, Wendy suggested
that he move to Nashville. Jim wisely took her advice to heart resulting in his
songs being recorded by legendary artists such as Marty Robbins, The Everly
Brothers, Brenda Lee and Dusty Springfield as well as up-and-comers like Garth
Brooks, Faith Hill, Travis Tritt, and Patty Loveless to name a few. His
collaboration with Wendy resulted in the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band hit "Fishin' In
The Dark" recently covered by Garth Brooks. Although Jim was experiencing
success as a commercial writer, his heart was still in performing, which led him
to record two more solo CDs. Soon Jim's inherent sense of humor got the better
of him when he founded the group Run C&W with ex-Eagle, Bernie Leadon and
Amazing Rhythm Aces leader Russell Smith. Run C&W developed a "cult"
following for their bluegrass versions of classic '60s soul music and recorded
two CDs. After Run C&W disbanded, Jim continued writing and performing solo,
starting another band with a collection of "who's whos" from the Nashville
studio scene called the Vinyl Kings. Although their forte was to faithfully
re-create their favorite '60s rock and soul music on stage, they've recorded two
well-received CDs of original Beatle-inspired songs which have remained on the
"Bestsellers" list at CD Baby. To read more or hear song clips: www.jimphotoglo.com

[Songs for Bright Street]'s got the lot - lots of sad country twang, a dollop of folk and just a smidge
of pop...
In short, it's full of melodic treats that will make your heart ache."
Lonesome Music
On her new album Songs for Bright Street, New York-based
singer/songwriter Amy Speace demonstrates why
she's quickly become one of her adopted hometown's most celebrated emerging
artists.
Possessing a commanding voice, a distinctive melodic sensibility and an uncanny
knack for nailing complex emotions in song,
Speace makes music that's both illuminating and effortlessly accessible.
Amy
Speace has already won a loyal grass-roots fan base, thanks in large part to
live performances
that merge warmth, humor and emotional immediacy, and to a tireless touring
schedule
that's already taken her across the United States.
She's also won considerable critical acclaim, with The Village Voice
observing that Speace is
"taking her Americana away from twangy contemplation toward tangy confrontation"
and noting that
she's "not another of those breathy would-be child poets, but a real singing
writer of songs."
Time OutNew York
stated,
"Amy Speace plays sweet, twangy folk music with a clear voice and an innocent
vulnerability,"
while The Nashville Scene noted that she
"balances wry humor
with open-hearted honesty."
Pat Wictor, Singer/Songwriter - “Anthony da Costa is the future of folk
music.”
A 16-year-old, singer/songwriter from Pleasantville, NY,
Anthony was the youngest winner of the Kerrville “New Folk” Competition
and performed at the Kerrville Folk Festival. A Falcon Ridge Folk Festival
“Emerging Artist,” he showcased on the main stage and was voted a
“Most
Wanted To Return” Artist. He was an Invited Showcase Artist at the Folk
Alliance Conference and a TriCentric Showcase Artist at NERFA. He showcased
at the Tin Pan South Songwriters Festival in Nashville and was chosen a
MountainStage “New Song” Contest Northeast Regional Finalist.
He
released his fifth record, Quality Time — and is in the studio recording
his sixth.
And he performed with many of his musical friends and heroes —
from Red Molly, Anais Mitchell, Jonathan Byrd and the Wailin’ Jennys,
to Gandalf
Murphy, David Massengill, Jason Spooner Trio and Beaucoup Blue.

Please note: "Lois and Greg's House Concerts" is simply
the name we choose to describe our private parties.
These parties are NOT a business nor are they a business-related activity. They
are strictly a hobby for us,
and are simply gatherings of our friends and guests to enjoy live acoustic music,
fellowship, food (a potluck buffet) and fun.
Our concert parties are officially free (or else it might be considered a business),
although voluntary contributions
(suggested donations of $15-$20 per person) are accepted to pitch in for the
cost of the performers.
100% of all contributions go directly to the performers.
